PO Box 25126            Albuquerque, NM 87125            1-505-345-3536            info@sunset-memorial.com Chester T. French founded Sunset Memorial Park in 1929. His goal was to provide endowed-care cemetery services to Albuquerque as a lasting tribute to those we love. Over 80 years after the first burial, Sunset is one of the most highly endowed cemeteries in the southwest, with over six million dollars in an endowment trust.  Mr. French's foresight, dedication and service over the years, set the foundation for Sunset to serve the greater Albuquerque community for many years to come. The first area developed at Sunset Memorial Park was located at the corner of Edith and Menaul Blvds. The impressive trees in this area are a result of the devoted care over the last 80 years. As Sunset has expanded over the years, new areas of development continue to draw from the rich beauty of our environment. Many of the trees gracing the park were transplanted by hand from the Jemez Mountains decades ago. Monuments of hope and inspiration surrounded by beautiful landscapes help to comfort those who visit. In 1988, Sunset Memorial Park expanded the Southern area of the cemetery. In conjunction, the "Eagle of Freedom" monument was designed to reflect the ideals of religious and personal freedom and placed in this new section. It is surrounded by an area of over two acres of spacious, memorial lawn with a breathtaking view of the Sandia mountains. As part of the French Family of Companies 100th Anniversary Celebration, in 2007, the Centennial Urn Garden was  dedicated off the main gate.  The award winning Santa Fe style architecture, lush foliage, tranquil fountains and a working kiva fireplace create an atmosphere of warmth and peace in a charming southwestern environment provides a secluded area for private reflections.
